What to bring

You'll need all of your own gear. It is possible to rent your gear from Peace Scuba Center (866-984-2025). Just tell them you're going on the Peace and they'll be able to set you up with high quality gear for the trip and they'll deliver it to the boat for you. There is no gear rental and extremely limited spare gear available on the boat. Besides the regular gear you might bring for a boat trip, make sure you bring one tank and a weight belt with enough weight on it for your needs. The Peace is able to fill tanks to 3800 psi so you can bring an aluminum tank and still get a good fill. Bring a Save-a-Dive kit with extra fin/mask straps etc.

Double check your gear before leaving on the trip. If you plan on doing a night dive, make sure you bring an appropriate dive light and chemical light sticks. If you get seasick easily, and plan to use any type of medication for it, do a test of the medication on dry land first. If you are unable to function under the influence of the medication on dry land, you won't be able to dive while using it. Sea sickness medication is not effective once you are sick. Start the medication before you get sick or it won't help.

All food is included in the price of the trip; it is plentiful and quite good. If there is a snack food that you can't live without, bring it with you. The boat does not serve alcohol since the consumption of alcohol increases your risk of decompression sickness. If you wish to bring your own, you can, but remember to do so in moderation. Diving under the influence is forbidden. Bringing any type of recreational drug on board the boat (other than alcohol) is also strictly prohibited.

If you're a photographer or videographer, the boat has a carpeted camera table and continuous AC power. You'll want to make sure you bring enough film/tape and other goodies that you need, as the boat does not carry photo or video supplies.

If you want to do some underwater hunting, make certain you have the proper fishing license. The minimum license that you will need is an "Ocean Only License" with a "California Sport Marine Resources Protection Stamp" and a "California Ocean Enhancement Sport Fishing Stamp". Pick up a copy of the fishing regulations at the place you get your license. Know the regulations on each type of animal you plan on collecting. The fish and game people have no sympathy for ignorant hunters. There are freezers and live game tanks on the boat. Bring some zip lock bags to freeze your catch in on the boat. Also bring an ice chest to haul your game back home.

Each bunk has a place to store your belongings and a bright light for reading. They provide pillows and blankets, but if you tend to get cold easy, you might want to bring a blanket or sleeping bag. Some folks bring sheets and blankets for the utmost comfort. There are double bunks available for couples. Bring a gear bag to work out of on deck. Bring a smaller, extra bag to keep your dry goods in under your bunk.

While we expect nice weather, prepare for both cold and warm conditions. But please, don't bring every piece of clothing you own. Most people on the boat will be wearing sweats if it is cold, shorts and a T-shirt if it is warm. Those items, plus some street clothes for the trip down to Ventura and maybe a jacket, are all you'll need.
